At Town & Country Children’s Montessori, we follow Dr. Maria Montessori’s original vision with our programs designed for the child’s evolving needs.

Practical Life

Practical Life (teach me to do it myself) exercises are designed to develop the child's physical co-ordination (hand-eye), motor skills, independence and concentration. By learning to perform daily tasks give the child a sense of responsibility, self-worth and confidence, thus an accomplishment which leads to development of character. Courtesy and social graces are also incorporated in this area. Learning to take care of ones self and the environment is a primary goal in Practical life.

Sensorial

Sensorial Education is fundamental in the intellectual development of the child. The materials provided help to develop the child's sensory-motor capabilities of the five senses. The child becomes more aware of his surrounding by observing the environment more intelligently. The graded activities consist of sequencing, matching, classifying and sorting. Sensorial Education also indirectly prepares the child for other areas of development like reading, language, math and science

Mathematics

A child is introduced to Mathematics after working with the practical life and sensorial activities. Manipulative materials are designed to allow the child to have the hands on experience in order to grasp the concept of quantity.

By having to feel, touch and see a concrete object as opposed to the abstract concept is a great advantage and gives the child a good head start in learning the fundamentals of simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and the decimal system.

Language

Language is thoughtfully integrated into every part of the Montessori curriculum. It begins with rich spoken language—conversations, vocabulary, and storytelling—laying the foundation for reading and writing. Children are introduced to phonetic sounds before letter names, allowing them to build words naturally through sound blending.

This multi-sensory approach to language, using sandpaper letters, movable alphabets, and hands-on materials, supports the development of reading, writing, and expressive language at each child’s own pace.

Cultural Activities

Children should be given the opportunity to be fully aware of the different facets of the environment and the world. Cultural Education is an activity-based program that covers Geography, History, Botany, Zoology, Science and Nature Study. Creative activities (exercises) allowing exploration and general knowledge is undeniably a welcome addition in giving the child self-worth and confidence to last him a lifetime.

Music Programs

Music is at the heart of our prepared environment. Guided by our Head of School, Ms. Surangi-AMI certified, classical pianist, composer, and educator with over 40 years of experience, children experience a joyful and enriching music program woven into our daily Montessori routines.

Through singing, rhythm work, movement, instruments, listening exercises and musical exploration, children build:

  • Deep concentration

  • Coordination and motor skills

  • Listening and auditory awareness

  • Emotional

  • Expression

Each child not only enjoys music but also develops confidence, creativity and a lifelong appreciation for it, naturally supporting their emotional and cognitive development.

“Through the sounds of music, we express ourselves, humanity, love, freedom, and peace while conveying a sense of unity that seeks nor sees no boundaries. Just as how a musician and an instrument come together with others to make one piece sound so brilliant. The opportunities we can offer to our young musicians to play an instrument or simply appreciate music is a gift of a lifetime.”

Our Daily Schedule*

Discover how our Montessori environment balances child-led work, purposeful play, outdoor exploration, and rest—all in a nurturing environment. Unlike traditional preschools or daycare centers, our 1 hour and 45 minute work cycles and mixed-age interactions foster deep focus and natural learning.

Morning Montessori Work Cycle (9:45am - 11:30am)

Children engage with self-selected Montessori materials—from Practical Life works to Mathematics materials—at their own pace. Guides give individualized lessons when a child is ready to progress, ensuring each activity meets their developmental stage.

Midday Transition (11:30am - 2:00pm)

This period includes outdoor play, music through movement, lunch, and a special group activity like art & crafts. It’s designed to support physical development, creativity, social interaction, and relaxation after the focused morning work time. Story Time also helps calm the children before nap.

Afternoon Session (2:00pm - 4:30pm)

After rest, children transition gently back into the day with a light snack, music, and outdoor play. This time nurtures emotional balance and re-energizes them through movement and social connection. Activities are more relaxed, supporting continued exploration.

Aftercare (4:30pm - 6:00pm)

During aftercare, children engage in calming activities such as music, reading, or daywork, allowing for a smooth end to the day.

*Please note these activities and times are subject to change or may vary according to the child’s age and/or class.
