Children’s House

(Ages 3–6)

From Concrete Hands-on to Abstract Learning

The Primary environment, known as the Children’s House Community, is where the joy of learning truly blossoms. Here, children explore why and how things work through purposeful activity, nurturing their curiosity and sense of discovery.

Every lesson begins concretely and gradually leads toward abstract understanding. This progression opens the doors to deeper thinking and creativity, guiding the child from “inside-the-box” learning to “outside-the-box” thinking.

Our Montessori approach encourages each child to become a lifelong learner—independent, confident, and inspired to explore the world with understanding and purpose.

Eight areas of focus nurture every dimension of your child’s development.

Practical Life

Practical life activities welcome the child with familiar, purposeful work. Through work like pouring, setting a table, and caring for the environment, children naturally develop coordination, concentration, and the joy of independence.

Language

In our Montessori environment, language blossoms from sound to speech, then from the hand to the mind. Our environment nurtures this natural progression, guiding each child from writing and reading.

Sensorial

Dr. Montessori understood that the child explores and understands the world through their senses. Our sensorial materials are designed to help the mind classify these sensory experiences, bringing order to their discoveries. This lays the foundation for mathematical and scientific thinking.

Cultural Activities

Our cultural activities invite the child to explore geography, botany, zoology, and world cultures through tangible materials. This hands-on discovery fosters a deep sense of wonder for the natural world and respect for all living things, and the beginnings of global citizenship.

Mathematics

The path to abstract mathematical thinking begins with the hand. Our concrete math materials make concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division tangible, allowing children to discover mathematical operations for themselves.

Music

Music is the rhythm of our day. We greet children with songs upon arrival, share music during circle time, and fill our work periods with carefully selected classical pieces to aid concentration. This intentional use of music supports the child’s natural rhythms and fosters a joyful and harmonious environment.

Arts & Crafts

Our art program balances self-expression with guided art. Children explore fundamental forms like landscape, portrait, and abstract art through carefully prepared materials and lessons.

Tour the World Projects

The world enters our classroom through beautiful, tangible materials that call to the child’s hands and mind. As children explore each continent using large landmark photographs, cultural artifacts, and engaging books, they are building the impression that the world is a magnificent place full of fascinating cultures and life forms.
